Closing the loopholes: A call for stronger EU rules for safer and fairer eCommerce

The European Footwear Confederation (CEC), together with 63 other European entities, urges EU policymakers to close regulatory loopholes in online trade that allow non-compliant products from outside the EU to flood the market via online marketplaces. These platforms must be held accountable as economic operators when no responsible party is present in the EU. Stronger obligations, enforcement, and traceability are critical to protect consumers, the environment, and fair competition.
