Ensuring Legal Clarity in the ESPR: A Joint Call for a Transitional Regime

The European Footwear Confederation (CEC) and 13 co-signatories fully support the objectives of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Product Regulation (ESPR), including greater transparency on the discarding of unsold consumer products. However, a critical mismatch of timelines between reporting obligations and the adoption of implementing acts is creating legal uncertainty for businesses.

To address this, we are calling on the European Commission to introduce a transitional regime for that ensures large companies have sufficient time to adjust their internal systems and comply with future requirements without risk of non-compliance.
