Position Paper on the Proposed EU Universal PFAS Restriction

This position paper outlines the footwear sector’s recommendations on the Proposed EU Universal PFAS restriction. While we fully support the EU’s objective of reducing emissions and exposure to PFAS, we call for a clear, proportionate and legally workable restriction, which takes into account responsibility for intentional PFAS use, the role of product handling by operators beyond the manufacturer, and material inputs. Furthermore, we call for scientifically appropriate testing methods in line with these issues.
